Why hazelnut nature school?
Hazelnut Nature School is a Christian online school offering a full science curriculum for grades k-8. We are excited to merge a Waldorf inspired methodology with modern technology. Instead of traditional textbooks, our students create artistic and informative main lesson books to reinforce what they have learned. Our classes are interactive, hands-on, and experiential. We offer live classes with the flexibility of doing weekly assignments on your own schedule. All classes are held once a week on Zoom. Our dedicated teachers assign, evaluate, and provide feedback for assignments using Google Documents. We are committed to providing a high quality science curriculum that engages the head, heart, and hands. Come and discover the wonderful world God has created!
meet our team
Mrs. Selby - Mrs. Selby has over a decade of experience teaching science to students from elementary to high school. After graduating her two daughters from home schooling in 12th grade, she began teaching full time. She is passionate about meeting the individual needs of her students to watch them thrive. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, traveling in her RV, and spending time with her granddaughter. Mrs. Selby holds a BS in Botany from Oregon State University.
Mrs. Watts - Mrs. Watts has a BA from Westmont College and holds two Waldorf teaching certificates. She has worked as a class teacher for grades 1 and 2, and a subject teacher for both English and science. Mrs. Watts loves to watch the spark of discovery ignite in her students. She is an avid hiker and reader, and lives in Tennessee on a homestead with her husband, daughter, and pug.
